John and Gregg were hired by a Dallas couple to transform their home into Santa Barbara Spanish Colonial style. Highland Park, Texas is very familiar with Spanish Colonial architecture, for example, their city hall. The extraordinary thing about this project is that the client added one third more space to the house by creating an entirely new floor to the house underground. This subterranean floor features a guest sweet,  an office, a wine cellar, gym, billiard room, media room, and bar. All of the furnishings were designed and selected for a very active family to live comfortably but with a sophistication that was appropriate for a grand Spanish Colonial home. There are many artisanal features to this home, from encaustic tile floors, custom carved cabinetry and hand forged bronze chandeliers. The beam painting in the great room is exceptional, and is based on Spanish Colonial designs of California.
